Still Wishy and Washy

Or otherwise known at the decision-impaired Sarah & Mikey show.

As most of you know, Ryan attends two preschools. One where he's gone since a newborn [11 weeks] and one he started when he was almost 2. Zoe started this madness of two schools and we had very good reasons for it. With Ry, he started at Westminster only because we thought he'd 'like it.'

But now we have been asked by the Wed & Fri teacher to reconsider our plans for next year. He feels that Ry is already 'falling behind' the rest of the class in certain areas. This is occurring they think only because he isn't there enough to learn the routines/songs/whatevers.

This conversation happened in mid-Jan. I thought Westminster had their enrollment period in late Feb/early March. And so have not made any decisions - figuring we would give him some more time, pull him out less for music classes etc and see where we are in a month.

That ain't going to happen. Yesterday while at parent's morning for Westminster I asked about it. The packets are coming home next week and will be due the week after that! ACK!

Next March we will force us to decide if he is going to go to Kindergarten as a 4 year old or red-shirt him and send him as an almost 6 year old. Our district uses Dec 1 as a cut off. Many places have switched to Sept 1 but not WNY. Also many places still have half day options. We do not unless we switch to private schools and most of them are full day too.

Both of the Manic Mommies, Erin and Kristin, have had troubles with their boys. Kristin's even had to repeat Kindergarten. And now both boys are being 'evaluated.' In their journey, they are noticing that more and more boys are being tested. I can't help but think that is where this road is heading for us too. And I hate that. Almost more then making decisions.
