Is my name Alexander?

Pharmom asked me relay some sense of the fun that MathWife and I had this week in our efforts to spend Thanksgiving with the PharmFamily. This all starts the morning of our intended departure for the PharmCave and astoundingly has nothing to do with sick children! The details are known to the extended PharmFamily already but for other PharmReaders:
  1. Citation for expired inspection sticker
  2. The cop might have been onto something: the car would not start!
  3. Car is towed to mechanic (Better World Club sent a truck in ~15 minutes!)
  4. The car eventually will need a $1200 auto repair bill...
  5. So, there was the surprise rental car. Luckily Enterprise... picks you up just like the teevee says. (Dodge Caliber is pretty nice although windows are puny. (Basically they made windows short to make it look like a SUV despite car shape.))
  6. But, just before getting out of the house the heating oil runs out! Run around like crazy finding a friend/neighbor to meet them in the morning to restart boiler after refueling.
  7. Finally we leave, only 2.5 hours late!
  8. Did I mention that we are replacing boiler with a gas one in like 12 days? Well guess what: turns out we will needs a repair to restart!
  9. Have several days of family fun!
  10. While trying to leave it turns out that our rental car has stuck in the mud. 20 minutes and a clean set of clothes for PharmDad later we are on the road
  11. Small potatoes now, but return to broken monitor at home.
  12. Find out that the repair guy turned off breaker to deep freezer but did not turn it back on! There goes about $200 of food!
Sigh. However, surely it is time for our luck to change? Tune in next time to find out! Now to apply the medicine suggested by Pharmmom: girl scout cookies.

  1. I don't think a horrible day covers it. Sad story. Coulda been one of mine but it doesn't involve any medical professionals.
